Westside Water Global Water Initiative

Fresh Water

The Westside Water Association's Global Water Initiative has passed a resolution that allows shareholders to contribute a small amount to a dedicated fund for providing clean water to those in need. A recipient organization will be selected by a WWA committee, which will oversee the programs effectiveness and report back at every annual meeting. You can find an email from our first selected organization in the document provided when you click the button below.

Chosen Recipient: El Porvenir

Westside Water has been involved with an organization in Nicaragua which helps rural communities to access clean water and sanitation. Our relationship with El Porvenir is in its 19th year!

Since 2007, Westside Water Association’s impact has resulted in:

·      $51,812 donated

·      5,500+ lives changed

·      46 projects including:

2 water systems

9 wells

240 double pit latrines

9 handwashing stations

In recent years, well drilling technology has improved in these communities. When we were first involved, the wells were dug by hand and human power was used to pump the water. Now, it is possible in many communities to utilize a well drilling truck and have an electric powered water pump.

To really understand how life changing this has been for these communities, please watch this three minute video to hear directly from Joaquina Davila. In addition to access to clean water, she has an extra four hours per day to grow crops, raise livestock, and earn income. Children in her family can now attend school.
